His passion for the environment and wildlife was instilled from an early age with many hikes and weekends away in the mountains of the Western Cape. This led naturally to a career in nature conservation, first as a game ranger with the Natal Parks Board (now, KZN Wildlife), then as a district conservation officer with Cape Nature Conservation and today he is a natural resource specialist with the City of Cape Town's, Environmental Resource Management Department and specialises in using GIS (Geographical Information Systems) as an environmental management tool. His interest in photography stems from his early years paging through dusty copies of National Geographic magazine and being captivated by the vivid imagery and the stories that brought them to life.

Photography has always been one of the "tools" of his trade, from photographing his reptile collection as a kid, to monitoring white rhino in Spioenkop Game Reserve. Today, his photography covers many different aspects of his life, work and interests and remains his creative medium of choice.

Having developed an early interest and proficiency in computers and IT, he has embraced the "digital age" to take advantage of all it can offer. To complement his freelance photography he also offers a web design and content management service to clients, specialising in websites for photographers, individuals, small businesses and NGO's.
